Stephen Curry rebuked President Trump’s tweet Saturday in which he singled out Curry and revoked the Golden State Warriors player’s invitation to the White House.
Speaking to reporters in Oakland, Curry described the whole situation as “surreal” and proceeded to question Trump’s leadership.
“I don’t know why he feels the need to target certain individuals rather than others,” Curry said, adding that he has “an idea of why,” but he didn’t go further on that point.
“It’s just kind of beneath, I think, a leader of a country to go that route,” he added. “It’s not what leaders do.”

Earlier in the day, Trump tweeted that he was “withdrawing” Curry’s invitation to the White House for “hesitating” to accept after Curry told reporters on Friday that he had no desire to go.
Hours later, the Warriors announced they would not be going to the White House to celebrate last season’s NBA Finals victory.
“President Trump has made it clear that we are not invited,” the team said in a statement Saturday afternoon, in what appeared to be an act of solidarity with Curry. Instead, the team said that when they visit Washington, D.C., in February they will do something to “celebrate quality, diversity, and inclusion – the values that we embrace as an organization.”
Curry told reporters that the Warriors will “have an opportunity” to figure out what they will do to celebrate the championship they won last season.
Other plays have rallied to Curry’s cause, including Lebron James, who said he is “frustrated” with Trump for using sports as a means of dividing people.
