Sean Spicer ‘absolutely’ regrets using first White House briefing to fight media on inauguration numbers

Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Monday that he regrets using his first press conference to deny that former President Barack Obama had a larger inauguration turnout in 2008 than President Trump.

“Of course I do, absolutely,” Spicer said when asked if he regrets focusing his first briefing on the number of attendees at the events.

Spicer’s move to challenge the media on the size of Trump’s inauguration crowd launched what has been an eight-month-long fight between the Trump administration and media.

Spicer made the confession to the New York Times on Monday after guest hosting the Emmy’s Sunday night with CBS “The Late Show” host Stephen Colbert.

While in Hollywood, Spicer poked fun at himself and his former Oval Office colleagues.
