North Korea calls Pelosi ‘destroyer of international peace’

North Korea has launched a blistering attack on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi after her high-profile Asia trip.

Kim Jong Un‘s tinpot government called Pelosi “the worst destroyer of international peace and stability” in the wake of her trip, which included stops in Taiwan and South Korea.

“Pelosi, who had come under a volley of due criticism from China for destroying regional peace and stability by visiting Taiwan, stirred up the atmosphere of confrontation” with North Korea during her stay in South Korea, Jo Yong Sam, director general at the North Korean Foreign Ministry’s press and information affairs department, said in a fiery statement.

Pelosi made a stop at the heavily fortified Demilitarized Zone while in South Korea, making her the highest-ranking U.S. official to visit the area since former President Donald Trump met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in 2019.

The visit came shortly after her historic visit to Taiwan earlier this week, during which she pledged America’s “unwavering commitment” to democracy.

In the wake of her visit, John Kirby, the National Security Council’s strategic communications coordinator, told reporters Thursday that China is intentionally overreacting to escalate tensions and create a new “status quo” in the region.

Kirby’s comments came after China launched 11 ballistic missiles toward Taiwan hours after Pelosi departed, which he called “irresponsible and at odds with our long-standing goal of maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait and in the region.”
