New York City Mayor Eric Adams revealed on Sunday a part of his plan to reduce violence in his city in response to recent tragedies.

Adams, listed on his social media account as a retired New York Police Department captain, said New York City will “immediately” reinstate a “newer version of modified plainclothes anti-gun unit,” a move he had called for when campaigning in his election last year. Though some have criticized plainclothes units as an outdated policing practice, Adams told CNN his team “has done the proper analysis, and now we’re going to deploy that.”
