President-elect Donald Trump credited himself on Tuesday night for the recent record-high U.S. Consumer Confidence Index that was announced for the month of December.
“The U.S. Consumer Confidence Index for December surged nearly four points to 113.7, THE HIGHEST LEVEL IN MORE THAN 15 YEARS! Thanks Donald!” Trump tweeted late Tuesday.

The last time consumer confidence surpassed 113.7 was in August 2001, one month prior to the September 11 terrorist attacks.
Dow Jones is close to passing the record-high 20,000 mark, another example of how Wall Street has soared since the election, despite pundits saying a Trump victory could upset national and international markets.
Despite crediting himself for the high consumer confidence score, there is no concrete evidence that Trump is the reason for the jump.
