Roger Waters, formerly of Pink Floyd, wrapped up the Coachella music festival with his classic prop, an oversized inflatable pig — this time, with a trendy twist:
The pig, which was led above the crowd from lines held on the ground, displayed the words “Don’t be led to the slaughter” and a cartoon of Uncle Sam wielding two bloody cleavers. The other side read “Fear builds walls.” The underside of the pig simply read “Obama” with a checked ballot box alongside.
That Uncle Sam-as-butcher routine is getting a little hoary. But the name Obama — on a swine? Expect cries of offense, objection and fatwa from the usual fanatics. Oh well. Roger’s solo career wasn’t that hot anyway.
