NEW YORK (AP) — Police say a Long Island man was seriously injured after being struck in the neck with a broken beer bottle.

Suffolk County police say it happened around 1 a.m. Monday in Central Islip.

They say the 23-year-old victim and the suspect got into a physical altercation at the Powell Avenue home of a mutual friend.

The victim suffered a severe laceration to the neck and was taken to a hospital where he’s listed in critical but stable condition.

The suspect, 29-year-old Reginald Bonelli, of Central Islip, was charged with assault. It wasn’t immediately clear if he had a lawyer.
