A new advertisement from Our Principles PAC details the questions and ongoing legal battles of Trump University, asserting that Donald Trump “scammed” Americans into losing up to tens of thousands of dollars each.
Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio both went after Trump at the most recent Republican debate for perpetrating a “fraud” on individuals who borrowed money to attend a “fake university”. The ad chips in additional details, calling Trump U. an “unlicensed and illegal school that offered no actual degrees”, citing a civil lawsuit brought by New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.
“The truth about Trump University: Donald Trump made millions, while hard-working Americans got scammed,” the ad states. “Donald Trump belongs in 3 a.m. informercials,” not in the White House, it concludes.
Schneiderman’s lawsuit from 2013 includes these accusations:
Separate lawsuits in regard to Trump University have been brought forward in California. It is possible that one of them will go trial in a California federal court sometime during the general election this year, forcing Trump to take the witness stand.
