Global population grew by 74 million in 2021

The global population is estimated to be at 7.8 billion people on New Year’s Day, the U.S. Census Bureau reported.

This indicates an increase of 74 million people since New Year’s Day, a growth rate of 0.9%, the bureau said, according to a report.
