CAIRO (AP) — Egypt’s state news agency says that worker strikes have spread across the Nile Delta and southern Egypt, increasing pressure on the country’s military-backed interim government.

Notaries in the Delta province of Kafr el-Sheikh went on strike Thursday, joining pharmacists, doctors and factory workers who have been protesting across much of the country for the past month, calling for higher salaries.
