PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Opponents to a Colorado proposal allowing table games and slot machines at racetracks are denouncing Rhode Island’s Twin River Casino for its ties to a Colorado racetrack.
WPRO reports that opponents are airing ads calling an amendment before Colorado voters on Nov. 4 a “sweetheart deal for Rhode Island.”

Opponents say Twin River would benefit because its parent company, Twin River Worldwide Holdings, also owns a Colorado racetrack.
Michele Ames, spokeswoman for the group, “No on 68,” says Twin River does not have money for marketing in Rhode Island, yet is spending $12 million to sway voters in Colorado.
Twin River spokeswoman Patti Doyle says the casino actively markets in the Rhode Island and Massachusetts markets. And the Rhode Island Lottery says Twin River may not spend Rhode Island’s money in Colorado.
