McConnell freezes up at weekly press conference, escorted away

Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) was escorted away from Senate Republicans’ weekly press conference after appearing to have difficulty speaking.

McConnell began addressing reporters on the chamber’s progress on the annual defense bill before freezing up. Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY), the No. 3 Republican in the Senate, gently steered McConnell back to his office, only for the minority leader to return minutes later to brief the press.
