Biden administration preparing to resume Trump-era ‘Remain in Mexico’ program

The Biden administration said it was preparing in mid-November to reinstate a Trump-era border policy of returning asylum-seekers to Mexico until their court dates in the United States, according to officials.

Officials cautioned that the timeline for resuming the Migrant Protection Protocols hinges on Mexico’s cooperation to accept the return of migrants to its country.
