A radio station in Detroit is boycotting rapper Kanye West’s music after his remarks on slavery went “too far.”
In a Facebook live video on Thursday, hosts at radio station 105.1 The Bounce announced they’ll no longer play West’s songs after he said some African Americans chose to be slaves.
“We are over it. We don’t want to hear Kanye’s music, we don’t want to play Kanye on our show, we don’t want to talk about Kanye anymore,” hosts Shay Shay and BiGG said. “So we are taking a stand and we aren’t playing his music anymore. We just are refusing to give him a platform.”
West made his controversial remarks Tuesday at TMZ.
“When you hear about slavery for 400 years. For 400 years? That sounds like a choice,” he said.
West’s slavery remarks came days after he made headlines by tweeting support for President Trump. Trump has since thanked him for his backing, though West has said he doesn’t agree with everything Trump says or does.
