Trump congratulates Senate GOP primary victors in Nebraska, Pennsylvania

President Trump on Wednesday congratulated two Senate GOP primary winners, saying that Rep. Lou Barletta, R-Pa., and Sen. Deb Fischer, R-Neb., will both help push his agenda forward.

“Congratulations to Lou Barletta of Pennsylvania. He will be a great Senator and will represent his people well – like they haven’t been represented in many years,” Trump tweeted Wednesday. “Lou is a friend of mine and a special guy, he will very much help MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

“Congratulations to Deb Fischer. The people of Nebraska have seen what a great job she is doing – and it showed up at the ballot box! #MAGA”

Barletta was one of Trump’s first supporters when he announced his bid for 2016 presidential nominee, and the two have worked closely together ever since, appearing in campaign rallies alongside each other.

Fischer is an incumbent candidate looking to defend her seat in the Senate. She faced four other Republican candidates in the primaries Tuesday.

As the 2018 midterms approach, the Trump administration is focused on keeping incumbent candidates and pushing for more Republican wins to gain a larger majority in Congress.
