Thousands of teachers in Oklahoma are expected to participate in a second day of walkouts and protests Tuesday to influence state lawmakers to hike up education spending and increase their wages, Reuters reported.

More than 30,000 teachers in the state canceled classes Monday to participate in walkouts, causing 500,000 of 700,000 public school students to miss class, according to union officials, and many vow to do the same Tuesday.
