Republicans report record congressional fundraising cycle — The U.S. Capitol majestically stands on a chilly Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, as the lawmaker-prosecutors opened their final arguments, seeking to show that the offenses they accuse Clinton of committing meet the impeachment standard.

The Republican committee responsible for fundraising for congressional campaigns said it has raised a record $105 million this year, a 74% increase over the last election cycle.

The National Republican Congressional Committee announced record donations through September on Thursday, including “the largest off-year September ever,” with $12.2 million raised in the last month alone.
