Fox News host Tucker Carlson took aim at Walmart after their decision to stop selling handgun ammunition at their stores, saying they sell “cheap Chinese garbage.”
“The company more responsible than any other company for destroying and degrading rural America, for making our towns uglier and cheaper and poorer,” Carlson said Wednesday night on his show about Walmart. “The same people who pushed the appalling lie that brightly colored plastic crap from China is going to make us happy. That company is now lecturing normal Americans, the very Americans that they have hurt, about how immoral they are for daring to protect themselves with firearms.”
Carlson, 50, said Walmart had bought “immunity from criticism from the left” by “sounding woke.” Walmart announced Tuesday that it will no longer sell handgun ammunition following the mass shooting in El Paso, Texas.
The Fox News host has long been a critic of big business training his ire on Amazon and tech companies. In June, Carlson endorsed Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s economic plan which he praised as seeking to prioritize American manufacturing.
Walmart’s decision to ban handgun ammunition sales followed calls from the left for them to end gun sales. In August, the company decided to remove video games displays from stores which “contain violent themes or aggressive behavior.”
