Here’s something you do not “sea” every day: a shark sending swimmers running as it chases a massive stingray.
A video from a vacationing Texas couple captured the chase near the shore on video, in which a giant hammerhead shark is seen chasing the stingray. A few people swimming near the shark’s location scrambled to get out of the water but stayed relatively close on the beach for a front-row seat to watch the hammerhead’s chase, according to Fox 10.
“This is the first time we have ever seen anything like this for sure,” Alec Deshotel told the outlet. “I look out the window … and there it is. Massive 10 to 12-foot Hammerhead, whatever it is, I don’t know but it was a big one. We don’t know how big it was but it was massive.”

Deshotel’s girlfriend, Catarena Peek, started recording the video, as it was the second shark the couple had seen from their 10-story balcony. She had thought it would have been “a really cool video” to show her friends on Facebook but later found it had gone viral with millions of views, she told the outlet.

As of Thursday morning, the video, posted to the Facebook page Rena Nicole, has gained over 5.7 million views.
Only 16 unprovoked hammerhead attacks on humans have been recorded since the year 1580, with all of the attacks being nonfatal, according to the International Shark Attack File at the Florida Museum.
