WILLOW PARK, Texas (AP) — A couple has filed a lawsuit claiming that a North Texas Montessori academy used duct tape to secure their young son to his napping mat to prevent him from wandering about.

The suit filed Tuesday by Brad and Kristi Galbraith claims negligence and other charges against the Heart2Heart Montessori Academy in Willow Park, west of Fort Worth.

It contends academy staff used the tape in June to restrain the 2-year-old and another child. It says a former employee snapped photos of the 2-year-old and forwarded them to the Galbraiths and others.

A phone message left Wednesday at the academy was not immediately returned, but in a previous statement the school said the matter was reported to state Child Protective Services. The statement noted the school has an “exemplary” performance history.
