WOMEN PUNCH AND SHOOT RESTAURANT EMPLOYEE IN FACE OVER MISSING BURGER

There has been a rise in violence among students in the Los Angeles Unified School District, the Los Angeles Times reported, especially when students are coming to or leaving school. Last week, two girls were walking to Fairfax High School when they were attacked by two women who threw them to the ground, according to the report.

Also last week, a student in south Los Angeles was beaten and robbed, and a 17-year-old was stabbed by another student last month, the outlet reported. In October, a female student was allegedly sexually assaulted in the bathroom by another student at Hamilton High School.

Rudy Perez, a spokesman for the Los Angeles School Police Department, told the outlet that the level of violence is unprecedented.

“Is there an epidemic of high violence now affecting our students? Yes,” Perez said. “But we’re doing our very best to address these issues, especially trying to cultivate a culture of safety.”
