Comedian John Oliver is trolling Vice President Mike Pence with a parody book about the second family’s pet rabbit, Marlon Bundo.
HBO’s “Last Week Tonight” released the parody book A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo to coincide with the release of a book by second lady Karen Pence and daughter Charlotte.
Charlotte Pence wrote Marlon Bundo’s A Day in the Life of the Vice President and Karen Pence illustrated the children’s book released Monday. The Pences’ book gives readers a look into the duties of the vice president as seen through the eyes of Marlon Bundo, who has become somewhat of an Instagram star since taking up residence at the Naval Observatory.
The parody book tells the story of the rabbit’s same-sex wedding, poking the vice president for his stance on gay marriage.
“I live with my Mom, Grandma, and Grampa in an old, stuffy house on the grounds of the U.S. Naval Observatory. That’s because my Grampa is the Vice President. His name is Mike Pence. But this story isn’t going to be about him because he isn’t very fun. This story is about me, because I’m very, very fun,” the parody book begins.
The proceeds from the parody book will be donated to The Trevor Project and AIDS United. Karen and Charlotte Pence plan to donate a portion of the proceeds from their book to A21, a nonprofit dedicated to abolishing human trafficking, and an art therapy program at Riley Hospital for Children.
