ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Anne Arundel County police charged a man with robbery after he was detained for shoplifting wearing distinctive shoes.

Officers said in a news release that police were called to Target in Laurel on Wednesday after security staff detained a man they said was shoplifting.

Authorities say an officer noticed the man was wearing orange and white shoes similar to those worn by a man who robbed a gas station at gunpoint in Laurel on Saturday, The Capital of Annapolis reported.

Twenty-three-year-old Dave Benissan of Laurel was charged with armed robbery and other offenses.
