ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Opening arguments are planned in the Albany murder trial of a 40-year-old Schenectady man accused of hitting a bicyclist during a high-speed chase from police, then driving on with the man wedged in a ladder rack on his pickup truck.
Pablo Cruz is accused of hitting 45-year-old Paul Merges on an Albany street around 1 a.m. on Nov. 24, 2012. Merges was killed. Police say Cruz led police on a two-county chase at speeds of almost 100 mph with Merges trapped on the vehicle.
