The man who carried out a terrorist attack on the London Bridge on Friday had been previously jailed for “terror offenses.”
The attacker, who has been identified as 28-year-old Usman Khan, “was released from jail for terror offenses on license,” sources told CNN. To be released “on license” means inmates are allowed out of jail but must adhere to conditions, such as a curfew. Khan had planned to blow up the London Stock Exchange in 2012, and had been released in 2018.
Khan killed two people on the London Bridge with a knife and injured several others. He was also wearing a fake suicide vest, according to reports. Police responding to the attack shot and killed the attacker.
