Donald Trump Jr. shared a meme on social media referring to Sen. Mitt Romney as “a pussy” hours after the Utah Republican cast the sole GOP vote to remove President Trump from office.
Ahead of Wednesday’s vote, Romney announced his intention to vote to convict the president for abuse of power while vowing to acquit him on the obstruction of Congress charge. After his vote, he received backlash from members of his own party.

The meme posted to Instagram by Trump Jr. shows Romney wearing high-waisted jeans with the caption: “Mom Jeans Because you’re a pussy.”
The president’s son added his own caption as well, writing, “Mitt Romney is forever bitter that he will never be POTUS. He was too weak to beat the Democrats then so he’s joining them now.” He also claimed the senator “officially [became] a member of the resistance” and that he should be expelled from the GOP over his vote.
While Trump Jr. was not alone in his criticism of Romney, CNN morning anchor John Berman took exception with the language used in his post. In a Thursday segment dedicated to the president’s son’s post, Berman called it “appalling,” and said that Romney must have known he would face “incredible, personal vitriol.”
Trump issued similar rebukes of Romney on social media, first tweeting a video accusing him of being “a Democratic asset” before then claiming Romney could have won the 2012 presidential election if he had “devoted the same energy and anger to defeating a faltering Barack Obama as he sanctimoniously does to me.”
