The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will stop issuing food stamps to Washington state residents for the month of January in three days.

Food stamp payments are issued in the Evergreen State between Jan. 1 and Jan. 20. The state refers to SNAP as the Basic Food Program, and payments are usually sent out depending on the date that recipients applied for benefits. The dates will be listed on the approval letter if a household has qualified for SNAP.
