In three weeks, officials in Michigan will send out checks worth an average of $550 to approximately 700,000 households as part of a recently enacted expansion to the working families tax credit.

Eligible taxpayers in the Great Lakes State will get a check that is equal to the difference between the 6% working families tax credit on an eligible resident’s 2022 tax refunds and the 30% that the credit is now worth, thanks to legislation raising the credit signed in 2023.
