Top Gun: Maverick’s high-flying aerial maneuvers are the real deal, says someone who would know.

The gripping, sky-high scenes in the Top Gun sequel are not computer-generated, according to retired Navy Cmdr. and Blue Angels pilot Frank Weisser, who was hired to help with the Hollywood project.

“The movie is entirely filmed with our Navy airplanes,” Weisser told Fox News Unfiltered host Dan Bongino.

In addition, Weisser said there is nothing fake about the actors’ faces showing the effects of flying at high G-force.

“In every case, the airplane’s flown by a Navy fighter pilot, a Navy super hornet pilot, and the actors are in back seat,” Weisser said. “It’s a two-person aircraft. The actors are in the back, and so there’s no way to fake it. There’s no way to pretend that you’re under 7 or 8 Gs. So, they actually flew with us and put themselves through the paces in the airplane with us.”

Bongino asked Weisser whether the aerial technology demonstrated in the film is indicative of world rivals trying to match the United States’s air power.

“We’re still the superpower. There’s no question about it,” Weisser said while pointing to the military’s need to remain vigilant. “We have rivals who are, I would say, at least attempting to match our air superiority.”
