19-year-old Maryland man indicted for threatening to murder Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris

A 19-year-old Maryland man was indicted on Wednesday for threatening to murder Sens. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Kamala Harris, D-Calif.

Nicholas Bukoski is being charged with two counts of threatening to murder congress members and three counts of transmitting threats, according to an indictment from a U.S. District Court in D.C.

According to the indictment, Buksoki “knowingly threatened to assault and murder” the two senators, and threatened to harm “March for Our Lives” activists during the March rally in D.C.

The indictment was handed down in April but was not released until last week when Bukoski was arrested, Politico reports. The original indictment was secretly filed in order to conceal it from Bukoski as they investigated.

“Once the bench warrant issues, law enforcement will begin to investigate ways in which to secure the arrest of the defendant,” U.S. Attorney Jessie Liu said, according to Politico. “The public disclosure of this Indictment at this time could jeopardize future plans to secure the Defendant’s arrest, because such disclosure could result in alerting the defendant of the warrant.”

This isn’t the first time Bukoski has had trouble with the law. He was arrested for an armed robbery at a 7-Eleven earlier this year and has been connected to a series of crimes involving arson.
