“The next Republican president. I wonder who will that be?” he asked Friday at the Faith and Freedom Coalition’s “Road to Majority” conference in Nashville. “Would anybody like me to run for president?”

Trump’s question prompted sustained, rapturous applause from the friendly audience, which spent roughly 90 minutes listening to the former president rip the House Jan. 6 select committee and broach other hot-button cultural issues, from crime to critical race theory.

“Thank you for that,” Trump responded, saying that he may cry, like Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL).

Trump dismissed Jan. 6 criticism amid the panel’s public hearings, claiming “it was a simple protest” that “got out of hand.”

“Most people should not be treated the way they’re being treated,” he said. “If I become president someday, if I decide to do it, I will be looking at them very, very seriously for pardons.”

The “Road to Majority” conference is an annual gathering focused on understanding best practices for how attendees can better engage and turnout value-aligned voters in elections.

People of faith founded the country, built the country, and will save the country, Trump told the crowd.

“We are going to win a historic majority in the House of Representatives,” he said. “We are going to reclaim the United States Senate. We are going to take back governors’ mansions and state legislatures and offices up and down the ballot, left and right. And in 2024, we are going to take back our magnificent White House.”
