How stupid does Washington think people are?
One fry short of a Happy Meal, apparently.
Amid the East Coast gas craze, the Consumer Product Safety Commission tweeted out this warning: “Do not fill plastic bags with gasoline.”
It then suggested instead using approved gas cans but came back to an even stranger warning not to pump gas over fire.
“When using a gas canister, never pour gasoline over or near an open flame,” the commission said.
And just for good measure, the agency, headed by an Obama-era chairman, said, “Flame jetting is a sudden and possibly violent flash fire that can occur when pouring flammable liquids from a container over an exposed flame or other ignition source. NEVER pour flammable liquids from a container over an exposed flame.”
Obviously dangerous and potentially deadly, right?
Maybe not, said the commission in a final tweet in the thread.
“We know this sounds simple, but when people get desperate they stop thinking clearly. They take risks that can have deadly consequences. If you know someone who is thinking about bringing a container not meant for fuel to get gas, please let them know it’s dangerous,” said the commission.
