Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) announced on Wednesday he will step down as a Republican leader in November, reminiscing about his service but reminding colleagues that he’s “not going anywhere.”

McConnell, who became Senate party leader in 2006, has been the longest-serving Senate leader in United States history. He said he would continue to serve Kentucky as a senator, “albeit from a different seat … and I’m actually looking forward to that.”
