President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for secretary of the Department of Energy, Chris Wright, is receiving praise from Republican lawmakers and industry groups, while environmentalists warn he would jeopardize efforts to curb climate change if he is confirmed.
Over the weekend, Trump picked Wright, the founder and CEO of Liberty Energy, an oilfield service firm and fracking company, to lead the DOE. Wright has been a supporter of oil and is expected to play a leading role in ensuring the Trump administration meets its goal of increasing oil production.
