Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares has officially announced plans to seek reelection, ending speculation that he could run for governor next year.

Virginia governors are limited to serving only non-consecutive terms, meaning Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) is ineligible to seek reelection in 2025. While Miyares’s name had been included in discussions on who could succeed Youngkin as the Republican gubernatorial nominee, the attorney general announced Monday that he will instead run for reelection in his current role.
