Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) became the first account on Jack Dorsey‘s Bluesky to hit a million followers.

Bluesky launched in February 2023 in light of Tesla CEO Elon Musk buying Dorsey’s old platform, Twitter, now known as X. In the first two months following its launch, Bluesky saw 360,000 people download the app. By November, it had 20 million users and continues to grow.
