A spokeswoman for the conservative House Freedom Caucus will join Vice President Mike Pence’s communications team, a Pence spokesman confirmed on Monday.
Alyssa Farah, who has served as the spokeswoman for the Freedom Caucus under two Republican chairmen, said she was “so excited” to join Pence’s press shop in a series of tweets Monday afternoon.
“I’ve followed [Pence]’s career since he was an upstart conservative in the House, not unlike the Members I’ve had the honor of working for,” Farah wrote.
Christina Madreucci, who presently works in Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla.’s press office, will also join the press team as regional media manager, a spokesman for the vice president told the Washington Examiner.
The new additions come just days after Marc Lotter, Pence’s current press secretary, announced he planned to leave the administration in order to serve as a surrogate on the outside.
Nick Ayers, Pence’s chief of staff, replaced Josh Pitcock in the role this year and is helping to assemble the new press team.
