The Senate voted to move forward with legislation providing tens of billions of dollars in border funding on Friday as Republicans overcame a Democratic-driven voting marathon that stalled its adoption.

A budget resolution authorizing some $340 billion for border security and defense was approved by the Senate after Democrats offered dozens of amendments across 10 hours, many of them unrelated to the legislation’s content.
