Gas prices: Decrease at the pumps after weeks of rising fuel costs

Published February 25, 2025 6:30am ET

The national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline continued to drop on Tuesday to a price of $3.14, according to AAA. This was the fifth consecutive day of decreases after fuel costs started to rise at the beginning of February. It’s also correlated with a surge in energy prices.

Tuesday’s gas price is over two cents cheaper than at the end of last week. It’s also a price reduction from when a gallon of regular gas was $3.161 a week ago. However, gas prices are now more expensive than when gas was $3.127 per gallon a month ago.
