A second man has been arrested in connection with a May 2010 shooting death in the District.

Police said 31-year-old Allen Verter Jr., of Southeast D.C., is charged with first-degree murder while armed in the killing of Dawan Felder.

Felder, 28, of Clinton, was found shot to death on the 5000 block of D Street SE at about 2:20 a.m. on May 16, 2010.

Verter was taken into custody Friday afternoon, police said.

In October, Darnwell Hawkins, of Lanham, was apprehended in Northeast D.C. for allegedly killing Felder. A D.C Superior Court grand jury has indicted Hawkins on charges of first-degree murder while armed, obstruction of justice and weapons offenses, according to court records. He pleaded not guilty at an arraignment hearing last month, and a jury trial in his case is scheduled for June.
