A 15-year-old Texas boy may face felony charges after being accused of urinating on a Walmart store shelf.
The teenager was identified after a video of the incident went viral. The clip showed the suspect and a group of teens laughing about what appeared to be a puddle of urine on the shelf next to a bottle of wine at a store in Porter, Texas.
It was the latest in a series of food tampering incidents over the summer that have prompted viral videos and the second urination incident at a Walmart in the past week. A woman in Pennsylvania turned herself in to authorities after she was spotted on security footage urinating on potatoes at a Walmart. Grace Brown, 20, was charged with counts of open lewdness, public drunkenness, disorderly conduct, and criminal mischief.
Other instances of food tampering this year have morphed into viral videos, including a minor who licked a tub of ice cream in Texas and another individual who allegedly gargled mouthwash and placed it back on the shelf at a Walmart in California.
In the Texas case, pulled surveillance footage and said it confirmed that one of the teens relieved himself on the shelf. Authorities also allege that the three tried to steal a case of beer before being stopped and released by Walmart security.
Walmart said in a statement: “This obscene conduct is outrageous and disappointing,” a company spokesman told Business Insider. “As soon as we were notified, we sanitized the area to ensure its cleanliness and safety for our customers.”
