Biden calls G-7 the ‘G-8’ before declaring, ‘If I have any expertise, it’s in American foreign policy’

Joe Biden referred to the G-7 as the G-8 before saying his one area of expertise is in American foreign policy.

Biden made the slip-up while talking with supporters in Richmond, Virginia, on Tuesday and was criticizing President Trump’s conduct at the annual meeting with world leaders.

“You know, we’re in a position now where, if you think about it, he just came back from the G-8. I’m going to say something that will not take as much time, but it’s going to sound too self-serving: If I have any expertise, it’s American foreign policy,” Biden said.

“It’s what I’ve done my whole career,” he added.

Media coverage of Biden’s mounting snafus have been a standard that has been put unfairly on him and not the other presidential candidates, according to Communications Director Kate Bedingfield.

“I think the press has to be more careful about applying an unfair standard to Joe Biden than they’re applying to other candidates,” she told MSNBC on Tuesday. “If you listen to what the candidates say all day as they’re out campaigning, they’re out in front of cameras, they’re in front of people, they’re talking all day. Everybody’s going to slip up and misstate a name or a date or a location. It happens all the time.”

At a recent gathering in New Hampshire, Biden promised, “I’m not going nuts.”
