Capitol Heights man gets 30 years for rape, arson

Eric Lamont Partlow, 38, of Capitol Heights, has been sentenced to 30 years for arson and first-degree assault for raping a former girlfriend in her College Park apartment building and then burning the building to the ground, displacing 75 people in November 2006, a spokesman for Prince George’s County States Attorney Glenn Ivey said. The sentence was the product of a plea agreement that knocked down sex offense, kidnapping and false imprisonment charges in an effort to spare the victim the “traumatic experience” of testifying during trial, the spokesman said. – Freeman Klopott
