Johnson shrugged: ‘Can’t come up with a foreign leader I look up to’

Libertarian presidential nominee Gary Johnson is using humor to brush off criticism of his inability to identify a foreign leader he respects.

Johnson appeared at a town hall on Wednesday and failed to name of a foreign leader when pressured by MSNBC’s Chris Matthews. Johnson admitted having an “Aleppo moment,” referencing his earlier gaffe regarding his ignorance of the city at the center of the Syrian conflict, and eventually named former Mexican president Vincente Fox following an assist from his running mate.

On Thursday, Johnson addressed his newest gaffe in a seemingly self-deprecating tweet.

“It’s been almost 24 hours … and I still can’t come up with a foreign leader I look up to,” Johnson tweeted.

Johnson will appear on the ballot in all 50 states as a third party alternative to Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Under 40 days remain until Election Day.
