Meghan McCain defends Melania Trump against critics who call her cyberbullying initiative hypocritical

The View” cohost Meghan McCain defended first lady Melania Trump against critics who have called her hypocritical for wanting to combat cyberbullying during her husband’s presidency.

Trump hosted a roundtable discussion with leaders of technology companies Tuesday at the White House, and acknowledged that she’s aware of questions about whether the president’s use of Twitter to attack his critics has contradicted her initiative.

McCain said Trump shouldn’t be judged for her husband’s actions because she is an independent person.

“She has the right to have her own voice and her own platform,” McCain argued. “Why can’t we separate women from our husbands?”

Trump said Tuesday that skepticism won’t stop her from tackling cyberbullying.

“I am well aware that people are skeptical of me discussing the topic. I have been criticized for my commitment to tackling this issue and I know that will continue, but it will not stop me from doing what I know is right. I am here with one goal: helping children and our next generation,” Trump said.
