The abortion rights group NARAL Pro-Choice America launched a new ad campaign across five states seeking to fight the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to serve on the Supreme Court.
The ad campaign announced Monday is the start of a major effort by abortion rights groups against President Trump’s pick of Kavanaugh to replace retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy onto the court. Kavanaugh, they charge, will overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 ruling that overrode all state laws restricting abortion.
The digital ads will run in Texas, Alaska, Maine, Colorado and Nevada.
The group is specifically targeting Republican Sens. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine, as well as Sen. Dean Heller of Nevada, one of the most vulnerable GOP senators facing re-election in 2018.
NARAL is also targeting Sen. Cory Gardner, R-Colo., who is up for re-election in 2020, and Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, who has effusively praised Kavanaugh and is expected to vote for him.
