President Obama on Monday warned the press not to get ahead of the investigation into the weekend bombings in New York and New Jersey, and said filing “false reports” about what happened wouldn’t help.

“The press [should] try to refrain from getting out ahead of the investigation,” Obama said. “I’m extraordinarily happy with the cooperation that is taking place between the FBI and the state and local law enforcement officials. They are moving smartly on this investigation.”
