State police in Maryland and Virginia are preparing for busy roads during the Thanksgiving weekend with extra patrols.
Additional troopers will be patrolling highways from Wednesday through Sunday, police said, to watch for speeders, aggressive and reckless drivers, and safety belt violations.
Virginia State Police said 75 percent of its uniformed force will be on patrol over the long weekend.
Police are also planning to patrol areas near shopping centers and malls starting on Friday.
