SANTA FE SPRINGS, Calif. (AP) — It’s not being billed as another “Carmageddon,” but state transportation officials are warning of possible delays as Interstate 5 is closed in eastern Los Angeles County for weekend renovations.
Caltrans says the major freeway will be closed in both directions in Santa Fe Springs from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. Saturday and Sunday and 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. Monday between Carmenita Road and Valley View Avenue.
During daylight hours, various lanes will be closed on the affected stretch of I-5.
The closures of the key north-south corridor are part of a project to add lanes to the roadway and reconfigure the Alondra Boulevard bridge.
