Trump to attend July 3 fireworks celebration at Mount Rushmore

President Trump plans to attend a July 3 fireworks celebration at Mount Rushmore.

“For 20 years or something, it hasn’t been allowed for environmental reasons. You believe that one? It’s all stone,” Trump said on Dan Bongino’s podcast last week. “Anyway, I got it approved, so I’m going to go there on July 3, and they’re going to have the big fireworks.”

The National Park Service said last week it would bring back the annual fireworks display this summer.

The Mount Rushmore fireworks display hasn’t been held since 2009, when a pine beetle infestation killed thousands of trees in the Black Hills National Forest and created a potential fire hazard, according to American Military News.
